ABSTRACT

Political opportunity becomes tangible only in relation to threat; the notion of opportunity and the shared perception of the existence of opportunity gains meaning only in relation to the willingness to act, and can be activated only when based on an existing readiness to act. It is, therefore, essential to analyze the why and the how questions of the Palestinian Intifada before demonstrating the Palestinian construction of a shared perception regarding a developing political opportunity to act contentiously inside the Israeli polity.
