ABSTRACT

As has been indicated in earlier chapters, one of the best ways of ensuring that students develop a portfolio is to integrate it into a course. However, e-portfolios to date have been used largely as an institutional device to demonstrate student progress over time (e.g. to external quality assurance inspectors) or to assess learning rather than as part of learning. Recent technological enhancements to e-portfolio software have broadened the available features such that it is now possible to integrate the learning outcomes of a course and the use of e-portfolios. In this section four ways of building a course around e-portfolios are discussed.
