STARTING THE SESSION Couples experience frustrations with each other every day. Some of these frustrations are minor, such as the annoyance that one partner may feel when the other forgets to put a dish away. Others are major, such as the agitation that one parrner experiences when the other stays our later than expected. The problem is not that the couple have frustrations; on the conrrary, frustrations can often be "mile markers" for growth, as we will show later. The problem is that couples, without even knowing what their frustrations are about, presenr them in a way that cannot be heard. In this session, you will help the couple understand the real source of their frustrations, and you will teach them to phrase the frustrations in such a way that they can both be heard and perhaps changed.
