ABSTRACT
Governments, employers and students all over the world have been making demands upon universities to improve the quality of teaching. As a result academics have been required or encouraged to engage in a range of activities to make them better teachers. Examples are formal courses, staff development workshops, quality assurance reviews and grants for projects to introduce innovative forms of teaching.
