ABSTRACT

The effective inclusion of children with physical difficulties requires a range of people to work collaboratively with the class teacher. This includes LEA officers, the head teacher, the SENCO, professionals from a range of disciplines, the teaching assistant and, of course, the parents of the child. In addition, there may be a range of other people whose contribution may appear less immediate but whose role is also vital. These may include professionals such as dieticians, rehabilitation engineers and orthoptists. They may also include non-professionals such as grandparents, siblings and neighbours. These people may not be directly involved with the school. However, their advice and support may, at times, be crucial for the effective inclusion of the child.
