ABSTRACT

Everyone has learning needs. We all have differences in how we like to learn and how we learn best. We all have strengths and weaknesses, things we find easy and are good at and things we find more difficult. Within any class there will be pupils who have a range of learning needs. Individuals will also have differences in how they learn best and the rate at which they learn. It has been estimated that up to 20 per cent of all children will have some kind of mild learning difficulty at some time during their school career. The needs of most pupils with mild learning difficulties will be met by teachers through careful lesson planning and adapting their teaching styles to suit the pupils’ needs.
