ABSTRACT

Not all children with learning difficulties show the delay in all areas of development and the slower rates of progress in all areas of learning that are typical of pupils with general learning difficulties. Some pupils only have difficulties in quite specific areas of development or in particular areas of the curriculum. There are pupils with specific learning difficulties relating particularly to the development of literacy and fine-motor coordination. These difficulties can range from mild to severe. In the more severe cases the development of certain skill areas is slow and requires a lot of effort from the pupil and much support.
