ABSTRACT
In this chapter we examine in detail what children are expected to know and do by the time they reach compulsory school age in two learning areas: personal, social and emotional development, and communication, language and literacy. More importantly, we look at ways of offering activities and resources to help children attain the early learning goals at the end of the Foundation Stage in ways which fit in with what is known about how young children learn best.
