ABSTRACT
Most patients in hospital (Hubbard et al., 2004) and the ICU (Adelman et al., 1994) are over 65. Healthcare should be provided according to clinical need, regardless of age (DOH, 2001b). Yet limited material appears about older people in specialist literature, making them a potentially neglected majority. Comparing quantity and quality against paediatric critical care literature illustrates the relative neglect.
