ABSTRACT
As we keep insisting, you need to be aware of and consistent in your application of formal academic conventions. It would, though, be wrong to see them simply as restrictions on your natural imaginative impulses. They’re not there to inhibit you, but to help you articulate your argument in a clear, recognizable form. It’s therefore worth looking at some of the main aspects of these conventions to see how you can use them to your advantage and raise the standard of your work.
