ABSTRACT

A prefix is a letter or group of letters that goes at the beginning of a root word. A prefix changes the meaning of the word.

The vowels are ‘a’ ‘e’ ‘i’ ‘o’ ‘u’ (and sometimes ‘y’)

The consonants are all the other letters in the alphabet

First, you need the checklist of useful Anglo-Saxon prefixes in front of you, see p. 358

• look at each word • say the word • learn its meaning • read the examples • highlight the prefixes in the examples.
