When the first day of filming arrives, there is more than ever to think about. Over the next two chapters, we look in some detail at what happens on the shoot and how, as director, you will simultaneously be dealing with the practical, the aesthetic, the psychological and the emotional. Let’s start off by considering the shoot as a performance.
