ABSTRACT

Throughout this book the primary purpose has been to provide you with a combination of opportunities to engage in personal reflection and professional enquiry from theoretical and practical standpoints. All of the tasks in the book have been structured to offer opportunities for critical debate and discussion. Teaching is a reflective process, and requires you to be a dynamic practitioner who is ready to constantly ask critical questions of what, why, where, how, and when teaching, learning and assessment should take place. Consequently, the relationship between understanding and explaining your practice must be viewed as a dynamic process involving the need to engage, reflect and review all elements of your professional role. What is important to remember is that you are an individual teacher with your own particular personality, characteristics and approach to teaching, which is what is so great about teaching.
