ABSTRACT

After analysing the development of China’s outbound tourism, the last chapter will be devoted to arguing for the observation that it entered a new phase in the middle of the first decade of the twenty-first century and to provide an outlook, answering questions such as those on the possible influence of an economic downturn in China for outbound tourism, the probable development of motivations, forms and destinations of travelling abroad in the coming years, and the influence of China’s outbound tourism on the future global tourism.
