ABSTRACT
Exactly how Dynasty XIX came to an end is unclear, but its description as the ‘Time of Troubles’ obviously summed up how this obscure period was viewed by its successors. The founder and first king of the new dynasty, the Twentieth, was named Setnakhte, but who he was and where he came from is not known, nor whether he had any genuine claim to the throne.
