ABSTRACT

A large four-storey house in a residential suburb is home to 31 children and teenagers aged 2-19. When we visit they are out at school but the mother and daughter who supervise the home show us their photographs on enjoyable looking outings. They also show us pictures of Christmas; a succession of children pose individually for the camera, the younger ones happily displaying toys, the teenagers holding new pairs of shoes. They are not family snaps, but are rather a systematic record, a proof that each child is a recipient of a gift.
