ABSTRACT

The main reason why we develop our teaching is to improve student learning. We can see how introducing a development into our teaching will make a difference for our students, and so we get on with it – eventually breathing a sigh of relief once our ‘game’ is successfully over for the first time! The benefits may be felt not simply in the activity or new initiative itself but, as hinted at in the quote above, in a shift across our teaching more widely. It often takes something quite substantial to move the deep-seated attitudes that shape your practice.
