ABSTRACT

The collaborative nature of higher education means that many developments in teaching are taken forward by a group of colleagues. Taking on a role that allows you to lead the development of teaching within your institution can thus significantly increase your scope to initiate change. Your ideas will be taken more seriously, and you will have greater scope to shape the way in which they are implemented. Certainly, younger staff may find it difficult to convince colleagues to take new ideas on board, or that an initial idea bears little resemblance to what actually happens.
