ABSTRACT

Personalized learning isn’t a new concept. The 1944 Education Act obliged schools to provide ‘an education appropriate to the abilities, aptitudes and needs’ of every pupil. Back then, that meant segregating the high achievers from the strugglers. Today, it’s different. In the twenty-first century, catering for the needs of individual pupils means tailoring lessons to different learning styles, giving pupils more choice and flexibility, and delivering learner-centred lessons that allow people to progress at their own pace.
