ABSTRACT
After discussing the defining characteristics of state social work in Chapter 3, Chapter 4 charted the development of managerialism in Social Services Departments. This managerialised context represents the field of possibilities within which women’s interests have to be addressed in state social work and so the present chapter examines the women social workers’ experiences of key aspects of these managerial developments and their responses to them.
