ABSTRACT
In addition, one department is devoted exclusively to research programmes and specialist technical consultancy in support of the developing Irish forestry and timber industry, with particular emphasis on assisting the application of Irish timber in construction. This includes the classification of the performance characteristics of Irish timber, the development of processing techniques and the implementation of quality assurance procedures in the industry.
