ABSTRACT

A growing number of teachers are already familiar with the use of scripted fantasy in the classroom. For others, the content of this book may seem far removed from the stuff of normal classroom activity. We would maintain that it is important to test out the effectiveness of experiential activities of this nature in order to understand the unique way in which imagery brings the students’ experience of the world to the forefront of the learning process. It is important not to be put off by the initial difficulties that are in evidence when any new or ‘different’ activity is introduced into the classroom. We have indicated that the pay-off in using scripted fantasy can be considerable, not only in terms of the curriculum you teach, but also for the quality of the social climate in the classroom.
