ABSTRACT

It would be rare to find scripted fantasy being introduced as a methodology in any initial teacher training course, so the procedure described in the previous section of guiding a group through a fantasy may be one with which you are unfamiliar. Over the last few years, however, with the introduction of PSE into the school curriculum, fantasy work is becoming more commonplace in the classroom and is now accepted as part of a repertoire of skills that teachers use to enhance the process of self-awareness and personal growth in their students. From our observations, though, it is both teachers and students who report that taking part in the activity provides a powerful learning experience.
