ABSTRACT

There has been sustained improvement in the export performance of developing countries during 1965–80. The developing countries’ share in world exports rose from 21 per cent in 1965 to nearly 29 per cent in 1980. Since then, however, it has declined and in 1989 their share in world exports stood at 21.8 per cent. It took less than a decade to lose what had been achieved in nearly two decades.
