ABSTRACT

Women are less likely than men to be routinely tested for cardiovascular symptoms and more likely to suffer unrecognized heart attacks.… Women who come to the doctor with severe symptoms are not as likely as men with lesser symptoms to be given coronary arteriography, catheterization, or bypass surgery.… When women do have coronary artery bypass surgery, they are more likely to be given sedatives for anxiety and agitation rather than narcotic analgesics for postoperative pain.
