ABSTRACT
Subordinate clauses are sentences which are contained inside a larger sentence or inside a phrase. The topmost or overall sentence which contains everything else, including any subordinate clauses, is called the root sentence. Root sentence and subordinate clause are both kinds of sentence, but differ in some respects.
