ABSTRACT
The phrases in a sentence contribute in a systematic way to the meaning of the sentence. While there is a relation between the structural location of a phrase and its contribution to the meaning, it is also possible to change the structure of a sentence in ways which leave some aspects of the meaning unchanged.
