ABSTRACT

Having examined the theoretical and conceptual background to quality of life and described our attempts to develop an operational measure, we now turn our attention to the context in which most of the applications of the LQOLP have taken place. In thinking about the application of quality of life assessment in mental health we have developed an instrument which specifically addresses the needs of people with long-term, persistent and recurrent episodes of disorder, much of which can be described as neurobiological in origin (Francell 1994).
