ABSTRACT
Our principal intention in reviewing the thirty-five inquiry reports was to look for common themes between the cases. We shall begin in this chapter by bringing together information about the families at the centre of the reports and describing their composition, relationships and parenting behaviour. We shall then suggest how the abuse of the children might be understood within the context of these family relationships.
