ABSTRACT

Lar Lubovitch’s dances evoke descriptions such as exuberant, energetic, sweeping, luscious, and impassioned. He transcends the boundaries between ballet and modern dance, choreographing for prominent companies of both genres. In the United States the list includes the New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Alvin Ailey Dance Theater, the White Oak Dance Project, and his own Lar Lubovitch Dance Company. The Paris Opera Ballet and Israel’s Bat-Dor Dance company represent the diversity of his appeal abroad. Despite dissenting opinions from some critics, audiences respond vociferously to his works, making Lar Lubovitch an internationally praised choreographer.
