The final cost estimate of construction works must be very close to actual cost since it is generally used as a basis for bidding. Detailed quantity takeoffs, material, and labor costs are both time consuming and expensive. Indeed, the price or cost for such detailed estimates may vary between 0.6% and 3% of total project costs for an accuracy between +3% and −12% of the actual costs (6).
