ABSTRACT

During the 1970s, some physicists believed that Everett’s Many Worlds theory was true and that there actually existed splitting time. They believed that Everett’s theory of quantum mechanics was the only theory that applied to the universe as a whole and that an infinite number of splitting time-series came into existence at times later than the big bang. However, since the 1980s a more plausible version of quantum mechanics, the so-called “Consistent Histories” theory has been developed which both applies to the universe as a whole and does not imply that tune splits. Thus, there is no good reason at present to believe there actually exists splitting time.
