ABSTRACT
Ronald Laing was a British psychiatrist whose radical ideas about schizophrenia challenged the medical paradigm in the sixties. His antipsychiatry stance led him to argue that madmen are really rational-he argued that if we look carefully enough we will find the hidden desires and beliefs which make their behaviour intelligible. It is this idea that we will concentrate on here.
