ABSTRACT
From previous chapters it is clear that the late 1980s witnessed drastic changes in the organizational structure of Swedish MNCs, with implications for employment, trade, and technology creation, for example. The developments were closely associated with a changing relationship between the parent companies and their manufacturing affiliates in the EC, which attained a greatly expanded role in respect of overall production, trade and R&D within the corporate groups.
