ABSTRACT

This book is one of a series focusing on the role of the subject coordinator in primary schools. At the outset, authors with varied teaching experience met to consider the subject coordinator’s role and prepare an analytical framework focusing on key areas of responsibility which would form the basis for the text. One of the biggest discussions concerned ‘Are you managers, leaders or coordinators?’ It would appear from advertisements that schools have ‘coordinators’, these are part of ‘management’ teams, but recent government initiatives promote ‘leaders’. The words are inevitably interrelated and quite often used synonymously. This book is therefore an introduction to management and leadership for Physical Education (PE) coordinators.
