Managing meetings and managing self

Garner (1996), reporting on the experiences of a small group of SENCOs, found that all of them said that their roles had changed considerably since 1993, from ‘day-to-day teaching to a more managerial function’. They pointed particularly to their involvement in meetings — senior management meetings, case conferences/review meetings and liaison meetings with support service professionals.
