ABSTRACT

IT has a lot to offer in this context: composing software, keyboards and tape recorders will allow children to work at their own pace, to their ideal volume levels (with headphones) and, in the case of computers and keyboards, with a minimum of performance technique. In ‘Making Music Special’ by John Childs (1996) there is a very useful description of how to use transducers to amplify sound. They can be attached to almost anything and will offer a greatly expanded palette of sounds.
