ABSTRACT
Psychoanalysis, of course, does indeed begin with a version of ‘the human’, and then reads the social formation and its institutions as a more or less direct expression of psychic needs and desires; or, accepting as autonomous the existence of such institutions, assesses how far they provide satisfaction for human wishes. Its basis is to consider the social formation itself in relation to the species.
