ABSTRACT

Among other wares observed, a fairly distinctive type is characterised by the high quantity of coarse sand present in the body. The unglazed ware recovered at Khanfar (W18) is remarkably different from all the unglazed wares from the other sites which we surveyed. It consists of a hard body in a different shade of buff, tempered with a small admixture of extremely fine sand; the surface is often very light and self-slipping. It has an incised decoration in most cases. The wheel marks on the interior of the vessel indicate the use of a very fast wheel.
