ABSTRACT
Chapter 1, co-authored by Howard Lasnik, is an overview of the final stages of the principles and parameters (aka government binding) theory, which already contains some hints of ideas to come. Chapter 2 (re)introduces the notion of economy, chapter 3 corresponds to the paper that originally outlined the basic ideas of the minimalist enterprise and chapter 4 contains many further developments.
