ABSTRACT

Cultural institution managers direct the effective use of the institution site. They usually control part of or the entire building and the surrounding grounds. The museum or cultural institution might be a room, a building with no grounds, a monument, or an historic structure alone. The institution might be a portion of a building, spaces in different buildings, buildings on the same site, or buildings remote from each other. When managers share the building, they appoint a liaison facility manager to the full building manager. The institution manager often appoints the facilities or building manager or the protection manager to manage the operation, protection, and maintenance of the building and grounds. This provides for the effective preservation and use of movable and non-movable property. The basic building protection services exist at every cultural institution building. The manager houses the collections, equipment, and operations of the building users and satisfies the requirements of building managers, users, and visitors.
