ABSTRACT

The approach to counselling that this book presents is one example of a general category of counselling approaches called brief (or time-limited) problemsolving. Although the practice of planned brief counselling has as its primary focus the resolution of client problems in as simple and efficient a manner as possible, nowhere in this book will an optimum number of sessions or amount of time for counselling be recommended. Counselling should continue for as long as it is needed. But in this book, a key principle is that counselling should be planned and conducted within a limited time/minimal cost framework.
