Approaches to economic equality Economic equality in one respect implies inequality in other respects when people are different, and make different choices. In addition to the examples given in Chapter 2, we saw in Chapter 4 that equality of welfare entails inequality of income, and that equality of marginal utility can imply inequality of both income and welfare.
