ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION For many years there has been liability upon the owner and occupier of premises in England and Wales in relation to persons working in those premises and also visitors to the premises. Liability to visitors can be found under the Occupiers Liability Act 1957 and liability to trespassers under the Occupiers Liability Act 1984. This legislation does not apply in Scotland; the contents of this chapter relate to the law in England and Wales.
