ABSTRACT

The illustrations of the new model of economic development which were given in Chapter 6 placed considerable emphasis on non-monetary variables in terms of both their objectives and criteria of success. Such objectives could include health, education, housing, appropriate science and technology, and enrichment of both cultural and spiritual life. It is not surprising that this holistic approach to economic development shares many features with projects or initiatives which are more narrowly focused on one of the above sectors. Several of these projects in different fields will now be described in order to indicate further applications and achievements of the model which is here being presented.
