ABSTRACT

Following the creation of SOGAT the task began of fashioning an integrated union. On 9 March 1966 the first meeting of the SOGAT Executive Council took place at which were established a number of sub-committees of which the most important were the Structure, Finance and Organisation Committees. These sub-committees began work on integrating SOGAT’s two Divisions by encouraging branch and membership liaison between the two Divisions and by planning possible developments up to the SOGAT Rules Revision Conference. This was to be held no later than 1969 and would give further advice to the Executive Council concerning the integration of the two Divisions.
