ABSTRACT
In the previous chapter the focus was largely, but not exclusively, on children growing up in families and communities where only English is spoken. In this chapter the canvas widens to include children learning to speak English alongside other languages, as well as children learning to distinguish between several different varieties of English-in other words any child with two or more distinct means of expression.
