ABSTRACT

Reducing inequalities in health must be a team activity in which nurses work with many other disciplines and professions. No single profession has a monopoly on health promotion or is equipped to perform all the necessary tasks. Many of the case studies illustrate the ‘best practice’ of working within a multidisciplinary context. Primary healthcare nursing involves the use of extensive teamwork and multidisciplinary activities. Nurses and midwives within the hospital setting might contribute by being involved in activities over and above their bedside health education interaction with patients.
