ABSTRACT

The structure and planning of the intervention included the establishment of clear channels of communication and agreed practice guidelines with representatives from all agencies likely to have an interest in providing support and advice to prostitutes. Included are agencies such as Barnardo’s, Brooke Advisory Clinic, Family Planning Association, Housing Executive, Simon Community, health centres, Salvation Army, GUM Clinics, Alcoholics Anonymous, NEXUS, police, Rape Crisis Centre, Women’s Aid etc. Consulting with the wider primary care team in the area was very informative as GPs, pharmacists, health visitors, midwives and social workers knew much about the target population.
