ABSTRACT
The Anglo-Saxons were a Germanic people whose original home was northern Europe. Following early writers, historians sometimes separate them into three groups: the Angles and the Saxons, both of whom lived in North Germany, and the Jutes, who occupied Jutland, the modern Denmark. However, these tribes seem to have intermingled and intermarried prior to their invasions of Britain; the distinctions among them should not be exaggerated.
